Random thoughts, with ROOKIE BLUE as the focus. A different venue in which to talk to friends [This means you, Giulia & Julie!] And, of course, others are welcome - to lurk [!] or chat too.

THE STREETS
The police, like the cab drivers, get to know their
city [or town]...
_________________________________________
In one of ROOKIE BLUE'S first episodes [season 1],
Sam sent Andy to a particular door in an alley. He
told her what colour it was, and that it should be
unlocked. Police know the stories behind many
doors in their town. It was the same way with me,
when I was a cab driver. When I was new, I couldn't
understand why many stands, in a particular part of
Halifax, were vacant during a certain time of day.
Until I picked up the passenger that everyone tried
very hard to avoid...
Of course, the flip side of this anecdote is that this
person was a loyal customer. On BLUE, the officers
also get to know some of their repeat customers.
Like the man in the tree, with the chain saw. He
insists on being addressed by his proper royal title.
Sam introduces Andy to him:
" You'll like her...she's a thinker."

Everything looks a bit darker. I'm speaking of the
look of this new season's episodes. I don't know
if it is a cinematography decision, or if someone's
reading the light meter differently!
